American Woodworker's Best Buy
If you consider purchasing a drum sander, read the 15 page article in April 2002 American Woodworker magazine. The JET 16-32 Plus rates their Best Buy and beats out the Delta 31-250 hands down. Download the American Woodworker Tool Test: Drum Sanders article (a pdf file) now!

[The JET 16-32 Plus] scored higher on our performance and convenience tests (than the Delta 31-250). It can do everything a drum sander should be able to do except turn out a high volume of work in a short time. Unlike all the other drum sanders, this machine has a fixed bed and a drum that moves up and down. That means you can use roller stands for additional support of large stock. We took that idea one step farther and mounted this sander in our Ultimate Tool Stand (AW #82, page 48). Now it can handle big, wide and heavy stock almost as well as the larger machines. This machine has less capacity than the Delta 31-250.

The information above is from the American Woodworker, April 2002, Page 46.
